Adolescence In the Indian Context

 Adolescence In the Indian Context

The development of a growing sense of self(identity) is associated with the stage of adolescence. Examine this idea in the light of Erickson’s theory of psychosocial development (with specific reference to the stage of identity development). Illustrate with examples from the Indian context and from your practicum experience.

All interactions of the child have become the way to all kind of development. Erikson describes the various psychosocial development of children. Family, schools, siblings, friends, parents are the main aspect of a child’s development. children make the capability to the inner voice and emotional urges of the individual by these interactions. For instance, the play gave more experiences of problem-solving. Children can solve their problem without anyone interpretation. if the child couldn’t have space for experiencing their sense of initiative, the child develops self-doubt and guilt.it leads to will have an impact on the development of the child. growing the sense of identity developing by constant social interaction.

Experiences of a child from infancy create a new life in the adolescence stage. Hope, purpose, will, which had in early childhood make fertile ground to construct their life experiences. (Erikson). These virtues lead youngs to their world.these virtues reorganize their life and create personality. Autonomy, initiative, and industry are the main development of the adolescence stage. Adolescence can make life better without other’s help. They will initiative for anything that they can do it. The confidence and self-awareness of their ability make curiosity for many things to do. the children are the only able to do these when they have awareness of self. Very awareness about morality and keep try to continue or very careful to do
moral valuable things. Early child life has a huge role in making sense of morality.sense of purpose and industry bring a child to select their interest, and generalizing others and make a group. Child ready to find their friends similar to their character. Like and dislike having based on their will. More social influences change and reform the likes and dislikes. They are able to choose travel, own style in clothing, embrace the fashion, moral and ethic values. Sense of ‘oneself’ very important to young children.

School and other educational institution have a very important role in developing self-identity. It is a place to research their identity and develop social and academical capita. The gang and diques which provided by the school and community provide social capita. Experiential education design and built a sense of industry and purpose. The curriculum allows space for organic maturation of self. thoughtful pedagogy can able the social and emotional connection. The very important moment in the school and teachers interaction and curriculum, pedagogy influence in the developing their senses of self.

The concern of adult life is social expectations. The things which they want to do might be unable to do because of social expectation. Especially in India, the adult has to fight many things to connect their desire. the child who can’t hear the voice, can’t express the self in a clear place. They will have to seek subculture for their identity.

As Suman Varma and T.S Saraswathi said in the adolescence in India they were very deep in the following the religious. They were wearing the cap for practise the religious custom. Another thing is boys are more comfortable in the school and home both. But girls said they are comfortable in-home and inside of the father. However, they have been felt safe at school also. the answer to the question about hobbies that some girls to be in the beauty parlour and for buys travel. It seems the gender approach of Indian context among the adults. Social interaction is a major part of adult life in developing their sense of self.
