To me, the worst thing seems to be for a school principally to work with methods of fear, force, and artificial authority. ( A Albert Einstein ) Albert Einstein says that creating a fear environment in the school, make rules which force children to do something and artificial authority are negative things in the school principal. It will negatively influence children. He informed that free open environment is necessary for the school.
Philip W.Jackson described in the “life in classroom” the real-life a child. How a child forced to be fit in the school environment. He critically analysis the habit of the students like going to school, sitting in the same places for a long time, disciplines, they forced to say expectations of teachers. And he described about children can’t do what they want to do in school. Later he talks about the punishment which has in the school. Continues punishment of the authorities makes them fear. And punishment method of teaching is a part of a hidden curriculum .he also arise the concerns of a society that they think schools are only a platform to the paraphernalia of learning and teaching and the educational content of the dialogues.
I agree with the points which bring here but I also believing in some kind of force which help to the development of students. I am sure force and fear bring so much negative impact on the students. They can’t learn with joy if the rules and teachers force them. Fear environment and punishment will be a reason to decrease their confidence. And it leads them to root learning instead of think and reflective knowledge. Why agree with kind of force that, that’s things only go a better way. For example, the attendance system, particular time for the subject are of major importance in the education system.
Teaching occurs in a web- a very active web of relationship and structure. Teachers’ work is, we might say, always and profoundly contextual. This quote says how important teachers' relationship in a society. Teachers can’t be isolated in a classroom or staff room. Teachers need to interact with all people related to school and children. Several interactions of teachers give verities feedback in the growth of children,Raewyn Connel starts in “ the work of teaching” by saying the situations of teachers who work as a labor. many teachers around the world only focus on their job and concentrating to complete their job like what factory workers are doing. We can’t include these kinds of teachers in the real teacher’s list. Because teachers always should be interactive people. Working with given reality and bringing something new into existence. The author argues that social reproduction is the goal of real teachers, not a historical reproduction. And they need cooperative relationships rather than competitive relationships. The changes in society not happening because of what teachers should thought but the deepest interaction with the community and take a related step will change society.
Women's empowerment is an example of it.
I agree with the relationship of teachers is most important. Children acquiring knowledge from the environment around them. Bronfenbrenner's theory describes how the interactions of people who have around the child influence the development of the child. The teachers-teachers interaction, teachers-parents, teachers-community, students-teachers, students-students, all kind of interaction impact negatively on children as well as positively.
I have always felt that the true textbook for the pupil is his teacher. ( Mahatma Gandhi ) Here Gandhi more focus on teachers. And he says that real textbook of the pupil is a teacher. Giving important to the teacher than a textbook in the point of Gandhi thought us so many things like, the knowladge which get from the teachers are important rather than what textbook given.
The teacher has an important role in the life of every student even they get a lot of information from the textbook. Teachers' character and lifestyle will be role models for the children. And their pedagogy will improve knowledge and thoughts. Good pedagogy can make amazing changes in the life of students. Sensitivity to others, critical thinking, creative thinking, aesthetic sensitivity these all happening by the support of classroom as said Dhankar Philippa in the ‘ Aims of education “. the teachers are the main reason for happening this. education less matter ‘ what is “ but more “what ough to be “ One teacher can make awareness about the controversy which happening in the society like caste, religious and gender issues through the critical pedagogy. Not only the awareness but the giving ides how to live in a society and how to struggle for their rights and how to build the new nation also. Gandhiji’s quote being valuable in our country because many issues which related to society would only solve through education and by the hands of better teachers.
Help your children become human..........Reading, writing, and arithmetic are important only if they serve to make our children more human. ( Hiam Ginott ) Education aims to make real human beings. All things which we are studying in the school like reading, writing, arithmetic should have reflections in their life and it built the character according to what we reflected.
The school subjects and syllabus are a very important thing, but we can teach children to become human beings indirectly. Every knowledge can be related to serving to make our children more human if teachers and authorities of school make a good plan. The environment of the school and the activities of teachers should influence the lives of students. It is a kind of integrated study. When we are discussing the hidden curriculum we would say that the current educational system like route learning will have worth to capitalist society. Like this, we can teach children to became human by setting the hidden curriculum which promotes to right things. If it comes to reality, for instance, engineer students will have a sense of the controversy happening in society.
Bronfenbrenner’s theory clearly says that how the background of the children, interactions which happening around us, policies and rules are influences in the life of the human. According to this theory, creating and making these possible ways to have real aims of education, it is possible to make our children more human. At that point, every reading, writing, and arithmetic, not only this everything can achieve the real aims of education.
